About me
Hello, I'm Chris. I'm a furniture designer and maker based in London.
I love creating beautiful, functional bespoke furniture to the highest standard. I use traditional techniques and inspired contemporary design.

I originally trained as an electronics engineer, gaining a Masters of Engineering at the University of York, then working in the software industry for nearly a decade. I liked working in software and solving problems, but I couldn't help but grow tired of making things that would necessarily only last a few short years.
After I inherited my great-grandfather's tools, I learned that he was the last of seven generations to work in the furniture and joinery trades around High Wycombe.
I visited some of the things my great-grandfather built, including this war memorial church gate at Speen. Seeing his work, still standing even many decades later, helped me realise I had to put his tools back to work, and maybe add a few of my own.

Due to my heritage, I always have an eye on the past, the way things had previously been done and the knowledge amassed. I am also firmly aware that my work needs to be rooted in the now: our needs, wants and aesthetic are always evolving, and the furniture we surround ourselves with must evolve too.
I have a clean, clear aesthetic creating legible designs with subtle detailing that is discovered through use. My engineering background leads me to deliberate, person-centric designs, thoughtfully built to high standards. I use carefully selected, native timbers, making maximum use of the species' natural properties.
